Fireside Stories
Fireside Stories are designed for 4-5 year olds who come with a caregiver and sit in front our fire (or outside in the sun on a nice warm day!) to hear a story. Following the story, children will talk about what they’ve heard, and make a craft based on the story.
All programs are Fridays from 1-2 pm. Pre-registration is requested. These programs will cancel if there is low enrollment.
March 5: A House is a House For Me by Mary Ann Hoberman
Animals need homes just like we do! Enjoy this whimsical story and learn how almost anything can be a home. Afterwards, we will create our own tiny animal homes out of clay and natural materials we find in the woods.
March 12: The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson
Come listen to The Gruffalo, a story about a mouse who outwits the other wild animals with tales of an imaginary beast on his way through the deep, dark woods. Afterwards, we will create our own wacky creatures and meet one of the Center’s special spiky animals!
March 19: Frederick by Leo Lionni
Come and enjoy the story of Frederick, an artistic and imaginative little mouse, While his family gathers food for the winter, Frederick sits around observing the beauty of winter. After the story, we will nurture our own imaginations and make our own mice! Then we will use our mouse creations to play a game of camouflage along the Center’s stone walls.
The cost is $9 for members and $11 for non-members
Fireside Stories are a nice introduction to our pre-school summer camp too!
