Before you come to WNC…

We offer 90 minute classes at $7 a child. It is possible to schedule a full day, which translates to two 90 minute programs with a lunch break in between. The cost for the full day is $14 a child. If your school requires an invoice, please call our nature center ahead of time and one will be prepared for you. Otherwise, please bring a check on the day of the program. We’re sorry but credit cards cannot be accepted at this point!

We have parking for buses and ample parking for cars.

Each student should be wearing a name tag.

If you are planning to stay for lunch or a snack, individual lunch bags should be clearly labeled. We will collect lunches ahead of time and make sure they are waiting for you during your lunch break. Please bring a trash bag to bring your garbage home, as we are a carry-in / carry-out facility.

Please dress for the weather. Most programs have an outdoor component and that often includes a hike. This advice is also for teachers and chaperones, who often are less well prepared than their charges.

Programs can go on rain or shine and we do schedule programs in the winter. We have a heated weather-protected pavilion and our indoor nature center with teaching space for up to 25 children at a time. Scheduling a rain date is often possible. Please provide the nature center with a cell phone number so that we can reach you if there is a weather problem.
