Support Our Pollinator Garden Project

IMG_6551.jpg

Please read the following message from Eagle Scout Candidate Maddie Nelson

My name is Maddie Nelson, and I am a Life Scout in Troop 19. My eagle project is to plant two pollinator gardens, install two birdhouses and 6-10 small wood burned nature signs at Woodcock Nature Center this May. One of the pollinator gardens will be next to the bird of prey enclosures at Woodcock, and the other will be right across from it.

The pollinator garden across from the bird of prey enclosures will serve as a Memorial Garden dedicated to the ambassador animals that lived long lives at Woodcock Nature Center, but have unfortunately passed away.  The garden will have a sign dedicated to all of these animals, like beloved Chubbs, Pancake, and more. Many of you and your families got to know these animals over the years, and they hold a special place in your hearts.

These gardens will be beautiful additions to Woodcock Nature Center.  The gardens will help children learn more about native plants and pollinators of Connecticut. They will increase biodiversity, pollination, plant reproduction, and the control of damaging insects.

We hope you will consider making a donation to help support the pollinator garden and memorial garden which honors the animals who've touched all of our lives.

Please consider a generous donation to our pollinator garden project.
